I can’t wait for the school year to start – not only so my kids go back to school – but because we love seeing all of your kids at The Learning Lab throughout the school year! It is really a treat helping your kids master a new skill or learn how to take school seriously or raise a grade after working really hard.
For those of you who have been with us the past few years – thank you! Also – keep reading because we have some new offerings this school year! (You can scan for the stuff in orange, if you just want highlights of our new offerings.)
For those of you who haven’t tried us yet, let me tell you a bit about what we do and how we work.
Small-group tutoring has been our core offering for the last few years. It is a combination of content mastery, academic skill building and homework support. When you get started, we’ll develop goals that are unique to your family and your child. Our tutors will provide individualized instruction (our ratio always stays under 1:5) and we’ll make sure you child has the autonomy to demonstrate just how much s/he has learned.
Group Tutoring meets from 3:30 – 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Thursday for Elementary School and Middle School kids. This year we are adding an additional day for High School students. High School kids can join us for help with their homework and test preparation from 6:00 – 8:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Yes – we are opening on Mondays for the High School kids!
This is a new tutoring option for 2014-2015! We have a group of tutors who will be offering individual tutoring for kids in grades K – 12. We cover almost everything – English, Spanish, Math, Science, and History – for all the grades. Yes – we can help with Calculus, Geometry, Physics, and Biology! I’m trying to keep it simple – you can check out our tutors and their hours online; you can even register online. If your child needs help with a subject and you don’t think we have it covered – let me know so I can find someone to help!
We’ll continue to offer test preparation for the SAT, ACT & AP exams. This year you can sign up for one of our scheduled courses or work with a tutor individually. We’ll run SAT & ACT courses for a month, leading up to the exam.
If your child needs a deep dive on the basics of how to study, we offer a 4 week course that covers time & task management, goal setting, organizational skills, homework/project planning, note-taking strategies, test-taking strategies, and communication skills. Our first course will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:30pm , Sept 24 – Oct 15.
We can’t wait to start the new school year and look forward to working with your kids.
